MONTHLY NEWSLETTER- FEBRUARY 2026
Message from Our Sisterhood President
Dear Friends
I hope you have thawed out from the freeze and are ready to have some fun this month!
Our famous Men’s Club/Sisterhood “Take me to the Oscars” is on Feb. 15th (more info below). Please let me know if you can help in grocery shopping/setting up/cleaning up. I will not be able to stay for the entire morning and would love some help!
And now it’s time to put in a plug for Sisterhood Torah Fund Lunch!!! As David and I humbly accept this honor, we also know that this is an important fundraiser to help strengthen Jewish education and ensure the vibrancy of the Jewish people for decades to come. If you can, please donate to this worthwhile cause. And we hope you’ll join us for lunch on Feb. 22nd.
For those who don’t know, last year we started honoring our B’nei Mitzvah students with a certificate where three trees are planted in the ‘ Jewish National Fund’s Children’s Forest”. This year Tu Bishvat, starts the evening of Sun, Feb 1, 2026 – Mon, Feb 2, 2026, corresponding to the Hebrew calendar, 14/15 Shevat.
This day marks the beginning of a “new year” for trees. It is commonly known as Tu Bishvat. This day marks the season in which the earliest-blooming trees in the Land of Israel emerge from their winter sleep and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle. We mark this day by eating fruit, particularly from the kinds that are singled out by the Torah in its praise of the bounty of the Holy Land: grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. On this day we remember that “man is a tree of the field” (Deuteronomy 20:19), and reflect on the lessons we can derive from our botanical analogue. (from Chabad.org)
And last but certainly not least, I ask all who knew Shirley Strauss, in her memory, be kind, enjoy family and especially smile! May her memory forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
