MONTHLY NEWSLETTER- OCTOBER 2025
Message from Our Sisterhood President
Our holiest day of the year is right around the corner.
As written by Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, “YOM KIPPUR is the holy of holies of Jewish time, when we give an account of our lives. We reflect on what has happened to us and what we plan to do in the coming year. The single most important lesson of Yom Kippur is that it’s never too late to change, start again, and live differently from the way we’ve done in the past. Hashem forgives every mistake we’ve made as long as we are honest in regretting it and doing our best to put it right. Even if there’s nothing we regret, Yom Kippur makes us think about how to use the coming year in such a way as to bring blessings into the lives of others by way of thanking Hashem for all He has given us.
This month so much is happening. I hope you’ll find a way to spend some of your time with Sisterhood. See all the great activities below. Please join me in thanking the many sponsors for High Holiday Flowers and Break the Fast (listed at the bottom of the newsletter.) There is still time to contribute if you would like. I want to especially thank Vikki Silvis for her dedication to Sisterhood and making sure the food is always delicious and beautifully presented.
On a completely different topic. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to visit the Women’s League of Conservative Judaism’s web site: https://www.wlcj.org/. They provide amazing programs and inspiration for Sisterhoods all over the world. Please sign in/register with them so that you can get their monthly newsletters and information.
And finally, If I don't have the opportunity to personally ask for your forgiveness for anything that I have done wrong or harmed you, please accept my apology and grant me forgiveness.
Wishing all a meaningful fast. May you be inscribed in the Book of Life.
G’mar Chatima Tova,
Rhonda
7th Annual Esther Cohen Mah Jongg Tournament- Players & Volunteers
Sunday, November 9, 2025
11:00 AM Registration
12:00 PM Tournament
(Note this is an earlier start time than in recent years.)
Just like last year, we’re excited to offer a dedicated Social Play area! This fun, relaxed option was a favorite for those who love Mah Jongg but aren’t quite ready to dive into tournament play.
Invite your friends to join in the laughter and camaraderie—share the link below with anyone who might enjoy this casual, non-competitive experience. (Note: Registration and Social Play begin a little later than the tournament start time.)
Can you lend a hand? We’re looking for volunteers to help set up the night before, pitch in during the event, and stay for a quick clean-up afterward. No mah jongg knowledge needed—just your time and energy!
If you happen to have a mah jongg set we could borrow, please let us know on the form.
Thanks so much—we really appreciate any way you can help!
Join us for a lovely Sisterhood paid-up Membership brunch on October 26, 2025, at 10:00 am at Beth Torah. Note: Login to your Sisterhood account to RSVP... not Shul Cloud.
