MONTHLY NEWSLETTER- NOVEMBER 2024
From Our Sisterhood President, Rhonda Duchin
Fall is an exciting time of year, watching the leaves change colors and hopefully cooler weather. It wasn’t as cool as I had hoped for our Sukkah Wine and Shushi event, but it was a beautiful evening. It was fun partnering with the Men’s Club, who provided wine and sake. Thank you to Lynda Markowitz, Sylvia Schepps for helping with meal prep and set up. And from the Men’s Club, thank you to Bill Miller and especially, Jeff Markowitz and David Duchin for going the extra mile!
We ended October with our annual Sisterhood Paid-Up Brunch. As always, Vikki Silvis, along with Stacey Clark and her team did an outstanding job elevating the look and feeling for a warm and inviting brunch. I hope all who attended enjoyed the improvisors, emceed by our own Jeremy Duchin. There were definitely some good old fashioned belly laughs.
For a future event, let’s go watch Jeremy in one of his improv shows.
We have a jam-packed November with opportunities to participate and volunteer.
Wishing you and your family a Thanksgiving filled with love and gratitude.
L’Shalom,
Rhonda
Sunday Schmooze Survey
Sisterhood and Learning Center are committed to creating fun social spaces for our families to gather on Sunday mornings. We would love to hear from our families that are interested in participating in this wonderful program and that may have ideas to contribute.
In 1943, New Yorker Irene Woodard abandons an abusive fiancé to enlist with the Red Cross as part of an elite group of women, nicknamed Donut Dollies, who command military buses at the front, providing a taste of home before troops head into battle. With intrepid Midwesterner Dorothy Dunford, the two friends strive to survive the war intact through dangers and harrowing circumstances as well as a new romance.
Sisterhood selected a new Tikkun Olam/Social Action project to support this year.
The Suitcase Project assists disadvantaged women, children and families impacted by abuse & trafficking in their transition to safer and independent lives.
Donations of the requested items below will be collected at the Esther Cohen Mah Jongg tournament on Sunday, November 10. Each person who donates will receive a free raffle ticket.
